Social Engagement Employability Destinations SEEDs

SEEDs is funded by the European Social Fund and the Department for the Economy. SEEDs aims to reduce the number of 16-24 year olds Not in Employment, Education or Training by engaging them using social media channel to highlight current opportunities and by providing a service which enables young people to access those opportunities.

SEEDs will:

Assist 183 young people (aged 16-24) each year

Progress 60 young people (aged 16-24) into employment each year

Progress 60 young people (aged 16-24) into education or training each year

A Wee Job

A Wee Job is funded by the European Social Fund and the Department for the Economy with match funding provided by Derry Coty and Strabane District Council. A Wee Job aims to provide access to employment or training for people with a disability.

A Wee Job will:
Assist 30 individuals with a disability each year
Progress 8 individuals with a disability into employment each year
Progress 5 individuals with a disability into education or training each year

Lemis Northwest  (No age restrictions)

Lemis Northwest offers the services below to anyone of working age who is unemployed or who wants to increase the number of hours they currently work, this service is delivered in partnership with Derry Youth and Community Workshop and is funded by the European Social Fund and  the Department for Economy.

We will help you

  • Create or modify a CV
  • Complete application forms
  • Complete online applications
  • Prepare you for interviews
  • Job Alerts when suitable vacancies get advertised
  • Support to access training that will help you find work
  • Advice on your finances (Better Off Working Calculation)
  • Support with claiming in work benefits when you find suitable employment (Working Tax Credits, Housing Benefit, Free School Meals)

To be a customer you must Not be working or if you are working want to increase the number of hours per week you work, you cannot be on another ESF funded or Department for Employment and Learning funded programme. If you live in what was the Strabane District Council area you register with Job Directions if you live in what was the Derry City Council area you register with Job Assist Centre.

Small Employer

We can advertise your vacancy on our facebook page which has over 5,000 likes, so your job advert gets a large but targeted audience.  We can let you look at our current customers CVs while keeping your confidentiality and if you would like to interview our customers we can setup the interview, give you advice about questions and provide interview space in our Strabane town centre office.

We will provide you with advice about funding which might be available when employing someone who is not working including if they require training to do the job you require.

We can help you create your own job application form and distribute forms to potential applicants

All services are free of any charge

Large Employer

We can provide all the services above and more.

If you have multiple vacancies we can work with you to establish what type of employee you require and then design a pre employment programme which will enable those not in work to gain or prove they have the skills, attributes and attitudes you require.  By working together Job Directions can ensure that you can recruit from the unemployed/not in work in the knowledge that they have the skills and attitude you require

Community / Charity organisation

Job Directions is keen to support the community, voluntary and not for profit sector and recognises the part that these type of organisations can play in improving the employability of those who have been away from or who have never been in employment.  We would be more than happy to promote volunteering opportunities within your organisation both to our existing customers and on our facebook page to a wider audience.

If organisations in the third sector are in a position to employ staff, Job Directions can provide all the services available to other employers as detailed above
